Une longère pour Madame Bovary

Ciao,

oggi vi porto nel piccolo villaggio di Vascoeuil, in Alta Normandia,

villaggio che ha fatto da set cinematografico a due film dedicati al celebre personaggio di Flaubert:

Madame Bovary.

 

Hi again,

Today I will take you to Vascoeuil, in Normandy - France,

this little village has been the set for two films tribute to the famous Flaubert's character:

Madame Bovary

 

E un po' "Madame Bovary" lo sono stati davvero Karine e Francois, i proprietari della casa che sto per mostrarvi; sono scappati dalla loro quotidianità per dedicarsi a ciò che più amano: la natura e la costruzione del loro sogno: un bed & breakfast davvero carico di fascino.

 

And indeed, Karine and Francois, the owners of the beautiful house I'm going to show you,  have really been a bit of  a"Madame Bovary", cause the escaped their everyday life to dedicate to their true love: nature and their dreamy bed & breakfast.

Che dire? Adorabilmente arredato

la sala living è separata dalla sala da pranzo da due travi portanti dipinte di bianco;

un vecchio divano in ferro battuto in primo piano, una credenza che appare di un colore deciso, vivace, polverosamente shabby....in realtà un gioco di luci...

 

What else? I adore the way this room has been decorated

the living room is detached from the dining ared by two wooden beams painted of white;

an wrouth iron sofa d'antan, a sideboard which looks great in a bold, lively, dusty shabby color... but it's just a light effect...

 

 

Un letto vintage vicino alla finestra per i momenti di relax,

per godersi qualche raggio di sole

and to enjoy the sun



Sul tavolino fanno bella mostra oggetti di un tempo, probabilmente scovati nei mercatini delle pulci

e protetti da belle campane di vetro, abitulmente usate per conservare i cibi

 

On the little table lots of lovely vintage art object are on display, flea markets booties

and they are preserved in glass bells, usually meant for food storage...

 



Mi piace questa stanza ancora "in progress"

 e piena di oggetti di un tempo: una vecchia valigia, una voliera, delle sedie che sembranpo provenire da una sala d'attesa; il tutto incorniciato da pareti grigie, vissute...

I love this room which seems to be still "in progress"

and which is full of vintage pieces: an old leather suitcase, an iron bird-cage, some chairs which seem to come directly from a waiting-hall; and all around grey shabby walls... awesome..

 



Belle le due ante di recupero

un'ottima idea per la camera da letto dove sono state utilizzate come apposggio per  gli abiti, o semplicemente, per attaccarci post-it e bigliettini da visita..

 

Also the two blinds are beautiful

they're  a great idea for the bedroom, since you can use them to hang clothes, better if vintage ones,

or simply to hang visiting cards and post-its... 

 

Infine la cameretta sotto il tetto

d'ispirazione vagamente nordica

luminosa, ariosa ed essenziale

 

In the end the little bedroom just under the roof top

vaguely of nordic inspiration

light, airy and essential

Glamourous Industrial Chic

sfogliando il numero di Ottobre-Novembre de "Gli speciali di Casa Chic"
non ho potuto che innamorarmi di questa splendida dimora
frutto di un sapiente restauro e indiscutibile amore per lo stile shabby della sua padrona di casa,
la designer australiana Lynda Gardener

Hi,
flipping through the pages of the October-November issue of "Gli speciali di Casa Chic"
I could not but fall in love with this fabulous house
which is the result of a skilful restoration and an unquestionable love for the shabby style by the owner, the Australian designer Lynda Gardener

Prima di diventare ciò che vedrete, questi erano i luoghi di una vecchia fabbrica di materassi,
quando Lynda la comprò, era da anni in uno stato di abbandono totale.

Before becoming the beauty you're about to see, these rooms belonged to an old mattress factory,
when Lynda bought it, it was in a state of total neglect.

ma Lynda l'ha trasformata in un paradiso industrial-shabby pieno di luce e di femminilità
But Lynda has turned it into an industrial-shabby chic paradise, full of light and very feminine

Il salone, che ha mantenuto le pareti di mattoni originali, è stato dipinto di bianco
The living room walls have been painted of white

 

e sono stati appesi degli specchi vintage di tante forme diverse

 

and a collection of vintage mirrors in many different shapes have been fixed to them 

 

 

uno scorcio della cucina, dove fa bella mostra un tavolo da lavoro in acciaio molto industrial,

pratico per i cassettoni su tutta la lunghezza,

più sotto invece un dettaglio delle mensole su cui poggiano tazze, bicchieri, ciotole e bellissime ceramiche.

 

A glimpse of the kitchen, where Lynda has placed a working stainless steel table,

 with lots of practical drawers,

underneath instead a detail showing some shelves full of cups and mugs, bowls and beautiful ceramics.



 

 

Mi piace il tavolo nella sala da pranzo, un vecchio tavolo di recupero, un tempo usato in una sartoria,

incornicitao da sedie shabby di tutte le forme

Mi piace anche l'idea di usare delle campane di vetro come "vetrinette" per oggetti d'arte e libri!!

 

I love the old table in the living room, it came from a tailor's shop 

and it is framed by chairs d'antan, all of different shapes

I also love the idea of using glass bells to store art objects and books!! 

 

 

 

 

Lynda è proprietaria di uno shop di articoli d'antan

e questa immagine mostra quanto le piaccia "arredare e creare" outfit per la casa davvero originali!!

E poi arriviamo alla camera da letto e qui vi dico solo questo: ho avuto ques'immagine come sfondo sul mio cellulare per mesi! l'ho sognata di notte questa stanza! e ora? ne leggo la storia e mi piace ancor di più!!

 

Then we have the bedrooms and there's a little story I want to tell you: this pic here has been my mobile wallpaper for months! I dreamt it every single night! An now here its story comes to me...and I love it even more!!

 

Lynda ha avuto una magnifica idea che ritroviamo in molte stanze della casa:

 l'uso di pagine di vecchi libri alle pareti,

pagine senza un senso, pagine che arredano e danno un tocco chic alla stanza

cosiccome l'uso di particolari carte da parati effetto trompe-l'oeil.

 

Lynda had a great idea, (proposed in many rooms):

the use of decorating walls with old books pages,

pages without a sense, pages which decorate, giving a chic touch to the room

as well as the use of original wallpapers with a trompe-l'oeil effect.

Questa casa mi è piaciuta davvero molto e leggendo l'intervista alla designer ho capito che

quando si abbraccia un progetto così grande, o comunque partendo da zero,

è bene individuare un tema di fondo che possa essere ripreso in tutte le stanze, restandovi fedele. Utilizzare stili diversi a seconda della stanza può portare a un risultato finale poco armonioso e felice.

 

I'm really in love with this home and reading the designer's interview, I learnt that when we work on a big project like this or when we  have to start from the very beginning

it's good to point out a general theme which can easily be proposed in every room.

Using different styles and moods may not lead to an harmonious final result.

Interesting shabby-trick! Uno Shabby-trucco d'impatto!

Ciao e buon inizio settimana!
Oggi vi mostrerò come rendere shabby alcuni angoli e oggetti della vostra casa.
Si, perchè non sempre possiamo ricorrere a mobili vintage originali,
talvolta ce li dobbiamo inventare, l'importante è aver gusto e carattere!

E allora corre in nostro aiuto una carta da parati davvero speciale!
Come questa che ripropone un tipico sfondo shabby
e con la quale ci si potrà sbizzarrire in mille modi diversi

Hi and happy new week start you all!
Today I'm going to show you how to make perfect shabby chic corners and objects in your home.
Yep! Because often we do not have an ready-for-placement-original-vintage piece
sometimes we just have to invent them, the important is making tasteful pieces!!

So, here we have a wallpaper which is exactly what we need for our purpose! 
Its typical, lovely shabby pattern
will help us making beautiful vintage decorations and corners

qui invece è stata utilizzata come cornice all'oggetto shabby per eccellenza: la lavagna!

davvero una bella idea, fantastico il cancellino...

Here instead it has been used as the frame of the shabby symbol par excellence: the chalkboard!
