Une IKONE à Paris: Emma Meston!!!

Ciao!

Nella mia vita ho lavorato in tanti posti

e ho spesso avuto a che fare con l'arte.

Nel 2005 ho avuto la fortuna di conoscere Emma Meston,

che arrivava da Parigi, col suo tesoro!

I've been working in many different places in my life

and I have often dealt with art.

In 2005 I had the chance and forturne to meet Emma Meston,

who came from Paris, with a treasure!

Emma crea gioielli

piccole opere d'arte, uniche, interamente realizzate a mano,

Emma is an artist in making jewels,

her little masterpieces are entirely hand-made

Quello che da subito mi aveva colpito era la raffinatezza del suo lavoro,

l'originalità delle forme, un uso sapiente di perle, bottoni, metalli, pietre e cristalli Swarowsky,

gioielli come abiti

gioielli difronte ai quali non si poteva che rimaner a bocca aperta!

What immediately impressed me, was the refinement of her work,

the originality of the shapes, a skillful use of pearls, beads, buttons, metals, hard stones and Swarowsky crystals,

jewels to wear like clothes

jewels before which you cannot but go flabbergasted!

Pertanto,

ho tentato di rintracciarla e l'ho trovata,

le ho chiesto se le poteva far piacere di raccontarci un po' di lei

e lei ha accettato felice... io più di lei!

So,

I decided to look for her and I found her, obviously in Paris,

I asked if she would accept a little intreview for us and she has happily accepted.. me, I was double the happier!!

Le ho chiesto come fosse nata questa passione, come avesse deciso di creare dei bijoux,

lei, mi ha raccontato che sin da piccola, essendo i genitori antiquari, amava collezionare vecchi bottoni e piccoli bijoux che trovava nei mercatini o che le venivano donati.

Qualche anno più tardi Emma, che allora frequentava una scuola d'élite, si è trovata a dover affrontare un momento difficile per la sua famiglia ed è stato li che ha iniziato a creare i propri gioielli: piccoli pezzi d'arte, che la distinguevano da tutti e che nessuno poteva copiarle.

I asked her where this passion for jewels come from and how she decided to create jewels.

She told me that being her parents antiquarians she had early started collecting buttons and beads. She simply loved them. A few years later, while attending a prestigious school, her family went through financial difficulties and she started creating her own jewels, which enabled her to have her own personal style, different from anybody else.

Le ho chiesto se ha fatto una scuola particolare per imparare quest'arte di lavorazione.

Emma mi ha risposto che no, nessuno studio, questa lavorazione è frutto della sua personale dedizione e ricerca del bello, una tecnica che lei definisce "Emmaillage", attraverso al quale poteva utilizzare tutti i piccoli tesori che collezionava.

E' stato il caso che ha voluto il suo incontro con un'assistente di Christian Lacroix,

la presentazione della sua arte al grande couturier,

l'esordio nei défilé de l'haute couture mondiale

la nascita di IKONE Paris.

I asked Emma if she also had attended a special course to learn this art.

She said no, nothing at all, this technique comes entirely from her knowhow, her devotion, her continuous search for beauty. A technique that she calls "Emmaillage" and that allows her to use all her lovely vintage findings.

It was the fate she eventually met Christian Lacroix's assistant, who suggested her to show the collection to the great couturier.

As a result of that meeting, she landed on the stage of world's haute couture dèfilès!

It was the beginning of IKONE Paris.

Ho chiesto a Emma quali sono i modelli cui s'ispira:

mi ha risposto che molto dipende dall'istinto; certo, le piace lasciarsi ispirare dai quadri (Klimt, Hundertwasser, Waterhouse e molti altri), piuttosto che dalla moda, ma abitualmente segue quel che le trasmettono i pezzi che deve usare, si lascia ispirare dai gioielli stessi e se lavora su commissione, si lascia ispirare dalla persona che le commissiona il lavoro, dallo stile che vede dal carattere che ha.

I asked Emma what are her inspiration models:

she answered that she follows her instinct most of the times, even if she loves being inspired by paintings by Klimt, Hundertwasser, Waterhouse and many others, she habitually gets inspirations from the pieces she's going to use or, if she's custom making a piece, se studies the person commissioning it, her style, her character.

Le ho poi chiesto quali materiali utilizza nelle sue creazioni e quale il suo gioiello preferito:

Emma mi ha raccontato che le ama utilizzare i cristalli Swarowsky che sembrano non tramontare mai, ma adora utilizzare la madreperla scolpita, le perle di Tahiti o d'Australia, i suoi pezzi d'antiquariato.

Mi racconta che il gioiello che più ama è sempre quello di cui non riesce a disfarsi, in realtà quello che le dà più gioia in assoluto è il momento in cui la persona che le ha commissionato il lavoro lo vede per la prima volta...vedere gli occhi della sua cliente muoversi attentamente alla scoperta di ogni piccolo dettaglio. Questo vale per Emma più di qualsiasi riconoscimento.

Then I asked Emma what are her favourite materials and pieces:

So she told me she often uses Swarowsky crystals which seem never to fade, but she loves using the sculpeted nacres, Thaiti and Australian pearls and her vintage, ancient findings.

Emma told me that the jewel she loves most is the one she is not able to give away.

The moment she prefers though, is when her client sees the creation the first time.. she adores the moment her client's eyes admires the piece seeking for the littlest particular.
This is the best reward she longs for.
